Title: Should We Go to Counseling?
Question:
I don't really know what I expect you to say, but I'm at the point of ending
my marriage of almost 3 years because of my husband's inability to express any
signs of the "love" he has for me. I don't understand how we got to this
point and I don't know what avenue to take as far as counseling or simply
separating.
I can't even talk to him and when I try I can't get through to him and then I
want to kill him, figuratively speaking.
I don't know whether counseling will help but I am willing to try it.
We have a 2 year old daughter and I do want her to grow up in a stable home
environment.
I guess I'm asking whether, at this point, it's too late for talk when my
spouse and I aren't on the same page. Frankly, I'm tired of talking or trying
to squeeze a conversation out of him. I do so for my daughter's sake though
and I want to work things out also.
Enough babbling, thank you for your time and attention.
Answer:
Counseling is always a good idea before separation, if both of you want
to try. If you go to counseling you won't have to have the guilt of "I
wonder if it would have worked later on in your life".
Men, in general, are not great conversationalists. But because of your
little one and for your own piece of mind, I suggest that you try
counseling.
Pick up my book "When the Vows Break: Living Through Separation &
Divorce" it will help you with the above questions plus how to join
support groups which you need to do! If you can't find it in your local
bookstore call my toll free number 888-267-3929 PIN #7176.
