Title: Do I Really Need a Lawyer?
Question:
My husband and I decided to get a divorce and because of our three small
children, my question is how much is he suppose to pay for child support
each month? I am a staying
home mom and my most concern is that since I don't work, can he still
claim the children
in his health plan at work even though we are no longer married? Do I
really need a
lawyer to represent me even though we don't want to make this harder
than it already
has?
Looking forward to your response and thank you for taking your time to
read my letter.
Answer:
I strongly recommend a lawyer. With 3 small children you have a lot to
lose if you don't do it correct. If you are both amicable then tell your
husband that you both should have a lawyer to draw up papers. My ex and
I agreed on an amicable divorce. We agreed on division of property so in
our case I went to see a lawyer and she drew up the papers and we both
read and agreed and signed. Very inexpensive but done correctly which is
critical.
Pick up my book "When the Vows Break: Living Through Separation &
Divorce" it will help you with the above questions plus how to join
support groups which you need to do! If you can't find it in your local
bookstore call my toll free number 888-267-3929 PIN #7176.
