What are some other types of property?

As noted above, houses and other types of buildings are property. The land that the building rests on is property. This includes any kind of building on the land, whether it is a shed, a shack, a barn, a trailer, or a lean-to. A hole in the ground can be property, such as a pool or a well. Basically, land and anything constructed on or in this plot is known as a type of "real property" or "realty." All other types of property are called "personal property" or "personalty." Personal property is also sometimes called "chattel."
