Why do most victims of domestic violence stay with the abuser?

This is not true. Most victims of domestic violence leave, or attempt to leave, their abusers, often many times. Due to the psychological and physical duress, many victims may find that it takes several attempts to leave abusers. This duress can be physical violence, financial control, or threats against a third party, especially any children that the victim may have.
