Okay, so now we have talked to the ex spouse's attorney about why we feel it is not right to have to pay chold support to a child who will be almost 20 when he graduates. We have increased the child support, but we are not happy about the extra added wording (see altering child support/divorce decree). We explained to her that my husbnad's son was held back in Kindergarten. Her reply was, "He probably had a late birthday." No. "Sometimes parents take their child out half way through because of problems." No. "Maybe he failed." No, he went all the way trhough, was 5 when he started and passed, but his mother decided to hold him back. Then she got really nasty and accused my husband of not wanting to support his son, this is the attorney. Not only does my husband provide medical, dental and life, he gives extra money and provides extra provisions when asked for. We are military and have lived overseas for the past 7 years. By moving to the states we lost about $1000 in extra income and now we cannot afford an attorney to help atleast fight for some kind of fairness. If we cannot afford an attorney, what are we supposed to do? We have 2 young children that depend on us for support as well as his son. Is there any hope?
