A friend has been divorced for several years and, despite a court order to do so, her ex is not paying taxes (they filed jointly) and IRS is taking up to $1,000 a month from her paycheck. She filed an order to show cause in contempt, and court appointed lawyer for her ex, and the judge instructed her to bring in a legal "brief",showing law that says he can jail ex for contempt of court. She has a hearing next Tuesday, January 2, and would appreciate any help. (Her computer is down, and she cannot afford repairs). Thank you.
I myspelf jut filed a contempt order against my ex for not paying support. Can not be of much help new to this also but would love to hear what happens
I'm not sure I understand. Her ex is supposed to pay her taxes? Unusual and potentially unenforcible. They're filing jointly but were divorced several years ago?
