My wife and I have been married for 18 years and have a five year old. Our troubles started 4 years ago when my wife was fired from her job of 23 years.The year before our son was born 3 months premature and she had a difficult pregnency. Her doctor said she should not have anymore kids because of a large fibroid tumor that is in between her uterous walls. This has made her very angry to the point she is violent and has even said she wants to kill herself. She told me last week that she is going to have another kid with or without me. I refuse to has sex now because of her thinking and she will not go to the doctor, she says she can do what ever she wants and a doctor is not going to tell her if she can or cannot have any more kids. I want to go to a counciler but she refuses, she does not think and has gone through 7 jobs since she was fired from her job of 23 years. She has racked up 80,000.00 in credit card debt. I asked her how can she even think of having another kid when we are broke and that does not matter. I spoke with an attorney and they said it would take $10,000.00 to fight custody for my son. I do not want my son to go through anymore. My wife has also told my son that she is going to find him a new daddy, this upsets me. Me and my son do everything together which also upsets my wife. I need some advice what to do. I also want to know who leaves and who gets my son.

Your wife is dealing with depression. A very bad case. Unfortunately, unless she poses a harm to herself or your child, there isn't much you can do.
I would definitely suggest getting psychological evaluations done on her (you will need to get one yourself).
I don't mean to sound insensitive to your situation, but $10,000 to fight for custody? That's cheap! I'm almost eight months into this, STILL no primary temporary conservator, and I've spent $18K....
Not trying to steal the thread but money is not the issue. Yes you need it but the amount varies depending on how good a lawer you have and sometimes the best lawer in the world can't make a differance. Case in point my X paid over 10K probly for lawer and I paid less than $3000.00. I never faught for custody or even asked, She didn't drink, use drugs and passed the eval. and I now have custody. I to0 know people that much more than 20K in it and have won. I do think it very unlikely that someone could win custody unless the CP is harmfull to themselves or the kids and after talking the CPS about my case this week unless it is life threatning not much can be done.
