I got a note yesterday from the teacher that my daughter meets the summer school requirements. It's an option and she will not be held back if she doesn't go but she needs the extra help. With all the problems I have with my X I'm afraid that she will not get to go. How do ya'll handle summer school and visitations? Who pays. My X said she has to talk it over with her lawer first.

There's a charge for it? My daughter did summer school for extra reading help some years ago, it too was optional but they didn't charge for it. How much are they charging and how long is the duration of it?

$100 bucks that included lunch. 30 days for 6 hours a day.

So basically $5 per day...not bad. Do you already have visitation orders for summer? What kind of visitation is it, still every other weekend or 50/50 or specific amount of weeks with ex?

OMG. It will cost more than $100 to talk it over with the lawyer. Just split the goddam bill and get your kid the help she needs!!

I was going to add that you should just go ahead and pay it...tell ex that you won't worry about the money as long as she is agreeable to making sure the child gets the help she needs & cooperates. I know she hasn't been cooperative in the past...my ex isn't either, but I don't even bother asking for any portion of extras cause its pointless. I pay for all extracurricular and for my 8 year old private school tuition & uniforms.

Visitation is set and it just works out that she would only have to take her the last eleven days. I will pay it anyway. Ya, her part is $50 so she is going to spend more then that asking her lawer what to do. The deal is I just do not think she will take her. Out of the 40 or so events in the last two years she has only taken her to three because it enterfears with her visitation time. I've asked X to pick her up from school and she refused.
The other thing is I can't afford the psychologist anymore that my daughter needs because I'm paying all the medical expences. In just the last two weeks another $800 in bills have come in for medical. So getting her to help pay anything is a plus.

Many states and counties offer public mental health assistance. It varies widely, but you might consider looking into something like this. The school would be able to give you the phone numbers if there is anything like that where you live.

If she meets the requirements for program and she has professionals in education saying that she needs the help, you will be able to get your child to the summer school. It's in the child's best interest.
