I am new here and need all the support I can find. My divorce was final April 2007. We were married for 32 years, he was abusive and controlling. I was a stay at home Mom to our 5 kids. Our property settlement was almost fair, I got my freedom, he got what he wanted of our household items. But, I realized too late that I am entitled to half his pension. Recently I've been diagnosed with cancer and really need the $1100 a month pension payment. He is fighting me on this. My attorney is taking too long...over 8 months. He is not answering my calls or correspondence. Also, the nearly $100K investment settlement (my half) still has not happened. I need the $$ now for medical bills.

Where do I go from here? I've paid the attorney and now, still not settled.
Help!

If the pension wasn't addressed during the divorce, you may not be able to get any of it now.

But you can file contempt of court charges compelling him to pay. Even if it means transferring assets that he got to you.

The pension was not addressed in the divorce papers because we used the same attorney and it was left up to us to work out the details of the pension. It was too complicated for the attorney to handle and he wanted all parties to remain friends. Yeah, I know. Bad move.
