This book will focus on the rights each spouse has under certain laws, situations, and circumstances, and how the division of the property will be decided by the court or through negotiation.
I am wondering how some of you have gone about "sharing" expenses for kids that are in a joint custody situation. I have not filed yet, but my lawyer said it looks like there wont be any financial support on either side.
So what is the best way to share expenses for both bigger things like tuition (private school) lessons, school trips, etc.... on down to small things that are jsut misc. weekly expenses?
I have wondered about keeping a joint checking account that we could both fund evenly. But I could also she this as a big point of contention of what "legitamit" expnses are. Is it better to each just keep receipts and "settle up" a couple of times a year?

One of you may have to pay the other some money, it depends on who is providing the health insurance for the kids. That gets split with the one who is providing it getting reimbursed for the other parent's portion.
If it is something that is a set amount, like private school tuition, then you can pay the private school your portion directly. When a school trip occurs, you pay your portion, she pays her portion.
How you want to handle clothes can be the trickiest part of this.
I don't see a reason for a joint account for the kids' expenses.
Medical beyond what health insurance covers can be addressed easily. You can decide to do a monthly, quarterly or yearly reconciliation. Obviously, something like braces will be addressed at the time it happens.
