Does anyone know of any support groups in the NY area? The nearest one I found was in Conn. It is a CHristian based group. I am in the Putnam/Dutchess area.
ANy advise would be helpful. I don't know hwere to begin to look. My local churches have nothing? Where should I begin my search?

Narn,
I don't know about your counties (I'm in Orange), but there was a posting on my marriage counselor's bulletin board (a physical bulletin board--they still make them, apparently--with cork and all!) about a local group. I didn't write down the info, but look up marriage therapists in your area, call, and ask!

Thank you. I tried googling, but to no avail.
I see my counselor next week and I will also ask her.
Have you tried a support group? What is is like?

You guys have been my support group!
Since I'm not actually divorced, and since things may actually (knock on wood) be getting better, and since we've both been crazy hectic with our community theatre stuff (we wouldn't have had time anyway!) I haven't looked up any for me (us).

Do you have an employee assistance plan where you work? They can usually put you in touch with support groups as well.

I am a stay at home mom still. I do not work outside the home but thanks for the suggestion. I still haven't found a support group. WHere in NY do you live?

You are looking for a support group? Where in New York are you located? I am a on Long Island.
I am a stay at home mom as well. I am coming down to the final steps of my divorce. I wont' bore you with the details, but starting my life over is going to be harder than I thought. I wasn't prepared for how my divorce turned out.
Like I said I am on Long Island.

Call Catholic Charities or your county mental health referal line. They will give you lots of suggestions
