In Nov. 2005 my husband quit his job a year before he convinced them to give him unemployment) After 6 months finally got a job at a convenience store. He has a degree from Rutgers in Mechanical engineering. Then he started school full time in Sept. He chose to take $$ (100,000) out of his 401K to pay off debt (35,000 of which he brought into the marriage) and to pay for his schooling and to pay for his daughters expenses. In Nov 2006 ,(married for 3 1/2 years) when my husband moved out because I gave him a list of things I needed for us to stay together. He felt they were unreasonable (specifically that he has a full time job after he finishes his career change education and pay 1/2 the bills).
I requested we refinance the house in my name because I was concerned what he would do. In December he filed with domestics for spousal support. He won 600 dollars a month...more than I get for my children from my first marriage. We are appealing...Will he really win at the appeal. Please realize I am a teacher. I don't make that much money...I make a nice living...but really.
Also I am a breast cancer survivor and worked full time through my treatments because we could not live on what he was making as his "other " transitional career as a cardiovascular registrar (40,000 per year). The other part of this is that he has been told by his psychiatrist that he should be in full time counseling but he chooses not to do it. He has also stopped his med's in June 2 years in a row and then had to be told to go back on them. I can't get any more life insurance so if something happens to me the girls only will get the amount I have right now and social security.
He has a LARGE tax bill this year and wants me to help pay it.
Any suggestions...
