I personally wa always adamant about domestic abuse. I had to, on several occasions save, more or less remove my cousin from an abusive situation at the hands of her husband. More recently it happened to me. I didn't see it coming. It started so gradually. Anyway, long story short, I dealt with verbal and emotional abuse and at times physical, but the latter not very often or severe. I think the only reason it stopped is because an altercation occurred when ( one of the many times) I was trying to walk/run away and he caught up to me outside and two undercover policemen witnessed his actions. I pressed charges and later dropped them because I felt bad. I actually considered reconciling and then though better of it. I gave up my apartment to him because for my own safety(he's trapped me there before). So it was a "temporary separation and during that time he changed the licks and took everything(all was in my name because he had bad credit) and left me with all the bills. Even things that weren't yet paid for, I'm still paying on now, even took the car I signed for. He is the cosigner though so I couldn't declare it stolen. Now he isn't even making the payments(all bills come to me) and he's running tollbooths like a madman, all coming to me because the car is registered in my name before his.I bought our wedding rings and even put the wedding hall on my credit card. So needless to say I'm hurting right now. He even called my work(which I voluntarily resigned from for my own protection) to discredit me and try to get me fired. So now, also needless to say, I need some kind of support group. I have gotten new employment and did a debt resolution(except for the car and the tires which I am still paying for) but I have a lawyer and all that(if we can find him). I just want to find somewhere close I can go to talk with other s that are going through similar circumstances. Any suggestions?
