Another neighborhood resource is retired men. My neighbor edged my sidewalk for me (ran his edger) and then I cleaned up the mess. His part was probably easier, but I probably would have cut my fingers off with the edger. So, I'm happy with the arrangement. By the time men are retired, they usually have every tool a man could need, and you can borrow them if you're nice. :) I always offer beer for the trade.
