Don't forget to kiss your kids...no matter what.

Just a reminder. You never know what tomorrow will bring.

Hellacious weekend for me. I was out of town with my teenaged daughter when her boyfriend broke up with her. He left last weekend for a college 9 hours away, and decided he didn't want the long distance relationship.

She was devastated, but asked to go spend the weekend with a girlfriend an hour away at her college dorm.......said she needed the support.

I gave her the keys to my truck, and as we were out of town at the time, told her to be back in time on Monday to get us home.

Well, she decided to try to get to him instead. I found out when the paramedics called me and told me that she had gone off the road and rolled the truck four times before slamming into a tree. She was 9 hours away from me, and I had no vehicle, and because she was 18 and hadn't given permission in time........they couldn't tell me anything about her condition.

I drove through the night, arriving at 1 am, in an unfamiliar place, finding her in the surgical ward, with staff still unable to give me any info.

By some miracle of miracles she survived. The truck was annihilated, crumpled like tin foil, but it saved her life. That and the fact that she was wearing her seat belt. When I saw the truck a few days later, I had no idea how on earth she had gotten out of there.

I haven't been able to sleep. Have to keep going in and looking at her.....touching her cheek........kissing her forehead. It was a bad weekend, but could have been so much worse.

I know sometimes things seem tough, but believe me they can be worse. Don't forget the little things like a hug, a kiss, and an I love you.

I am so grateful I still have the chance to kiss her goodnight....to hold her tight........and to tell her how much I love her.
