I have legal custody of my granddaughter, since she was about 2. She is now 10. We recently moved to Alabama, where her biological father lives. He as well as my daughter have not long been released from prison. He wants a divorce, no problem, she wants one as well. His girlfriend drew up the divorce papers. The first set listed 2 daughters. I legally adopted the oldest when she was but a month or so old. They both deserted her. The second little girl I have legal custody of was abused by him and abandoned after awhile. The divorce papers do not mention either child. We have asked him to give up his parental rights and allow the adoption of the second child as he has not taken care of her in any way shape or form, nor has the mother. Are these divorce papers legal without the mention of the second little girl? And are they legal being hand delivered by the soon to be ex husband? I thought papers of this nature would have to be delivered by local police dept. I know Alabama is a lot different than other states but legal is legal. |
