They are more familiar with how judges rule in regards to alimony. In my state (NJ), it depends on the county you live in. In the richer counties, alimony is a given when there is big disparity in income (and there is in your case). And it is usually at least half the marriage. In marriages that are over 10 years, you could be looking at longer. But that is my state. Your state and county could be completely different. And only an attorney familiar with both your state and county can give you a reasonable guess. |
