Re: ex refused support, after 4 years wants support

Not that it has anything to do with your post, but I am curious as to why you moved to Ohio knowing that you couldn't take your child with you?
I moved from MI to Florida...no way I would have if I wasn't able to take my children with me.

BTW - I am the poster that Gigi is referring to about ex purchasing basement bargains in lieu of an increase in child support. Not that I don't look for bargains too nor do I expect to purchase "labels" but realized just recently when I asked him to forgo 2 pairs of shoes for 1 better pair (stating that WalMart brand was fine) and the reply back was yes as long as it was under $20 as that is what is spent for 2. The whole year made sense to me of having to purchase more clothing for my son than expected as he refused to wear the junk they were buying him...an example I just found in his closet was a pair of jeans with the tags still on, size 14 husky. Not only is my son not husky, they were purchased because of the price of $9.99 and they got husky because they wanted to purchase him boys instead of mens that would fit properly.

It's not that there is anything wrong with purchasing clothing in lieu of support...but it muddies the waters of what is actually being paid. My ex obviously does it to try and save money, in your case it sounds like you were doing it because that was your way of contributing. What is being suggested is to stop contributing in that manner and do it in a manner instead that can be accounted for.
