Well I'm 25 and divorcing my husband of almost 3 years. I suspect adultry, but there were many many other issues....I wont rant lol But I'm worried. He has a lot of debt. When we got married I kept my maiden name and we never signed together on any debts, all debts he has were acquired before the marriage. We haven't filed anything yet because when he tried the court clerk told him we had to have a list of our items...I talked with a friend (and recently read a Do it yourself divorce book) and realized we also need to list our debts. The one time I talked to him about this he said he did not want to list his debts because it would raise red flags. I am going to insist on him listing them and stating they are his in the documentation. But with Michigan laws being so, um for lack of a better word stupid, will these debts still be mine? I just want to be completely and totally sure I will not take any of his debts with me. Thanks. |
