There are calculators that can determine how much a service member would receive upon retirement, but since you don’t know for sure when he is going to retire again it is difficult to determine. It is always a good idea to put into the decree that the service member must inform the former nonmilitary spouse when they retire, or give the former spouse permission to contact DFAS in order to keep up with the the service member's status in regards to retirement.
