NJ does have some pretty crappy CS laws but all is not lost. Same advice to you as I gave the the last poster. Many variables in this state when it comes to this.Go to google. Type in Newburgh/Arrigo. Also type in Gac vs. Gac. The last one is the important one for you. This case ruled that if NCP is alienated/estranged from the minor child then the responsibilty to pay for college is null. Get an attorney involved with this one and mention Gac vs. Gac. The answer guy is correct. You could be on the hook for this if you don't do some homework. You do have some things in your favor.(a) She moved out of the marital home(b) she has a job.(c)you have been alienated from her. You have some traction but you will need a lawyer on this.Which will be cheaper in the long run versus paying for a never ending college career. Nice, she can't pick up Christmas presents or have any contact with you but now wan'ts you to foot the bill for school? Lawyer up and tell her too bad |
