served with the court papers
|
|
When the stbx is served with the court papers for the divorce, who handles that? Is it a sheriff or someone from a service? We're using the a "We the People" service.
Stbx is getting all uptight about being served at work, probably doesn't want his gf to find out.

Abby,
I think it depends on the county, but I believe anyone can serve the papers. About a year after my divorce started I had a friend ask me to serve papers to his ex.

I don't know about your state but here he went into my lawyer's office and signed a waiver that he picked up the paperwork. I had to find that out too, ask the secretary for your lawyer, they may even know that one.
