Child Support & Alimony
My ex owes me child support and alimony from five years ago. He recently game into enough income to pay what is past due. How long does the statue of limitations run on alimony and child support? Is that too far back? Ashley

Statute of limitations is not something that applies to debts. You should be able to get help from DCS collecting the back child support (with interest). Collecting the alimony may require you get the help of a lawyer.

Here is my situation: I am divorced and was given 40% of his retirement plus child support etc. He told me recently he is looking into getting a job where he would be active duty and lose retirement. What would happen to what Ive been getting? Since the court deemed it as property why would they take it back? Ive been relying on it to pay for house while I complete a much awaited degree. It doesnt sound right to grant me the retirement then stop it while or if he gets this position as active duty rotc instructor. Plus does anyone know about the criteria for going back active duty? That is my ex never got promoted beyond Army captain and he was made to get out at 20 years so why would he be allowed back in? plus he has bad credit. etc I realize I would still be able to collect retirement once he gets out again.
