Free, cheap or at least SOME kind of help......

Hey ya'll,

Does anybody know of any resource that can give free or cheap or even expensive information on what to do concerning lawyers and an ongoing case in Texas, while I'm stuck out here in California? I have now found out that my lawyer is an old enemy of my wife and apparently doesn't care about whether I come out with anything in the divorce, it is apparently all about screwing over the wife and whoever else is involved in anything involving the house or the marriage, in order for her to 'best' the wife. We just had our 'final hearing' and not only did my lawyer ask for what I she thought I should have and not what I wanted, she is now demanding that I hurry up and sign a final decree that she wrote and that I don't even agree with, even though she is my lawyer.

I had divorce filed on me a few months after being released from a hospital after getting in an accident caused by the company that I thought was 'ours' but apparently is legally 'hers'. I won't go into the details, to save space, but I am currently in California as I'm recovering and live in a small town down there (in Texas), so I don't know who to turn to for help and the wife is either related to or best friends with most of the legal eagles in the area.

Thank you for any help that you can give.

Mike

Fathers for Equal Rights has a Dallas in office and I think several around the country. There is a membership fee but it is cheap and that is always a good place to start. Some judges hold court in multiple counties and I wonder if the Judge does in yours if you could have it moved to another county same judge. That way you could find legal aid in the other county without spending more money on travel time. Either way I think I would at least call a lawer in a neighboring town and talk to them. I would also think you could get a delay because of your medical issues.

Chatter,

We don't have kids together, so I'm not sure if that wold affect my chance of getting any help from them but I may give it a shot. As far as moving counties, I'm beginning to hear little bits about a good friendship that my lawyer has with the judge in my case. It would seem like that would be good for me and the judge basically agreed to everything that my lawyer asked for but my lawyer asked for what SHE thought I should have, not what I wanted and when the hearing started, the judge immediately said that our house would be given to a receiver to be sold and the equity split, when the wife and I have been trying to work a deal out to keep the house from being sold from us. The judge had asked the wife's lawyer if I had made any offers and he said no, even though I had given two 'official' offers to my lawyer to be passed to the other side. My lawyer than told me that she hadn't given the offers to the other side because the offer that the other side had given me was 'disrespectful'. Now I find out that the court appointed receiver happens to work with my lawyer all the time and something stinks..... I need to find out how I can keep the house from being taken from both of us and sold to somebody else, by somebody else.
