How should I/we file?? I am doing the taxes for both of us & she will allow me to do it either way...

1) From a previous marriage, her ex walked out of the home that she bought on her credit ( Which I didn't even really know about ). It was foreclosed in 2007. I don't want to be responsible for her tax burden! I did hear that the gov't is forgiving the foreclosure tax for a few years due to the economy????

2) There is some $1500 tax rebate this year to help the economy? I make to much, but but if we file together it would be applicable?

3) Is there any difference filing jointly or married filing separately when there is a divorce around the corner?
