My wife and I are getting divorced after 27 years. No children left at home. I make $100+k and my wife currently make $65+k as a computer programmer and could make alot more is she desired to take on more responsibility. Is she entitled to SM? |

Could be -- it is based on the calculation and basises found in Title 25 of the statutes. Did she work a majority of the marriage? Did she enjoy a higher standard of living? You said she worked now, so that will help you not to have to pay tho. There is a calculation. If you need help, I can help you out. Dawn E Fountain, PLS www.swlegalservices.com 623-251-7201 |

If you have the inclination, you might troll through the case minutes on the family court site. They give (very) brief descriptions of the hearings. However, I found a few notations for circumstances similar to yours, with the brief info you gave. Might give you a feel for it. Be advised that most of the minute entries are very mundane, and a lot of the cases seem to have one or the other parent with a drug/alcohol addiction, so be prepared for a lot that don't apply. |
