Going on a real date tonight!

I am going out tonight with a man that I met online. We have talked for several hours on the phone, exchanged numerous emails, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy with a good sense of humor and a lot of integrity. He is a recent widower and nursed his wife through a terrible illness. When I compare what I know about him to my stbx and his unbalanced driven lifestyle, I feel sad about all the years I spent alone in my marriage.
I am both nervous and excited about meeting this man. All my life I think that I was looking for the extraordinary in a partner, someone who was "different",who could make life exciting and interesting. Now I just want normal, someone to share with, travel with, talk about all sorts of things with. It may not turn out to be this man, but I think he fits the definition of "normal." What a nice change that would be for me.

Don't have much to say other than you know the drill. Post right before you leave and as soon as you get back. Make sure someone local knows where your going and at what time you'll be back.........take your cell phone with ya. Oh, and enjoy yourself. I'd come keep an eye on you but this is short notice. So follow the rules so I don't need to worry too much.

Pat, thanks for watching out for me. He is actually picking me up at my house. I know that's a no-no, but I do believe he's really safe. I promise that I will post as soon as he drops me off, but it will be Pacific time, so you may have to stay up late. I'm sure it will be fine.

make decisions!

I'm back! It was ok, not great. I think that I am just not really ready and he isn't really my type, whatever that is. He is a very sweet man, but I'm just glad to be home and ready to get into bed and read. I guess I'm really just an old fart after all!

I sure wish there were more like you! Thanks for being concerned. He was about as harmless as they come, and not too much more interesting. Daisy and I are off to bed. At least I can cuddle with her all I want!

PP its nice to see your looking and not just setting around. Some day you will meet that person your looking for and I have a hunch it may not be on some dating site. You very well may just bump into him and it will begin.
