Father-in-Law owns everything
|
|
My husband is considering divorce. I am devastated but I was wondering if anyone could help me with my concerns. We live on his father's Thoroughbred Farm. Everything is in his fathers name. Will I get nothing because of this? We've been togther for 17 years but only married for 10. We have one child, 22 months old. What happens to me if he decides he wants divorce and I don't? Thanks for any advice.

One person can stall in a divorce proceeding so it takes longer but , eventually , it'll happen as long as one party wants it . If there isn't any marital property to divide , concentrate on spousal support depending on your own personal situation . Try to figure out a custodial arrangement that is best for the child , your STBX and yourself .

"Will I get nothing because of this?"
I think you are far too focused on the materialistic side of this. Do you consider custody and the associated benefits to be nothing, also?
