Although I am not looking for a divorce, i was thru one already and want to get some clarification on some things. I currently have 2 investment accounts in my name only.

The first is from my investments prior to me getting remarried.

The second account also only has me on the account and is assets accumulated after being married.

My current wife keeps wanting to get her name on both accounts in case something tragic happened. (should i be scared :-))

Anyway, if I put her name on both accounts, isn't she only entitled to in event of a divorce a portion of the assets from post marriage (not both accounts?)

Also, if I don't put her name on either, does she still have rights to the post marriage account assets regardless of name on account or not?

thanks

There is no reason to put her name on either account . Make sure you have a legally executed will and it'll be taken care of . In the event of a divorce , your wife would be entitled to a share of the investment account that was acquired during the marriage .
