hi all.. I live in AZ ex lives in OR...... he was asked to pay a minimal amount of child support 5 years ago when we divorced. I have sole custody. he has not paid one dime. I went through expedited services even. he doesnt work and I dont have a current address, however I know what city he is in..... so we can garnish... any suggestions?

File with expedited services your ex's current address & workplace. There should be a form they have that you can fill out to send to his current employer to get them to remove money from his account & send it directly to the clearinghouse. The employer will have to notify him and give him a certain amount of time to respond or else they'll just start taking the $$ from his paycheck... and if he responds then expedited services should be able to tell you the next step to get that to happen.
Keep doing what they say is the next step, and if they get to an end where they can't figure out the next step after that, ask for child support enforcement, which will help handle things interstate, but can be a whole lot more of a pain in the neck. If you can get this just through expedited services providing notices to the right places, it'll be a whole lot easier & quicker for you to get your money.

I already went through expedited services.. no change.. the problem is.. he works under the table and lives with someone else JUST so he can't be traced.

oH, I thought you said they could garnish his wages. They can't do that if he's under the table... he gets no wages in that circumstances. Try support enforcement, since the expedited route dind't work.

I am not familiar with support enforcement? can you elaborate? can they get him if hes under the table? thanks Gigi!!
