Hello, I hope someone can answer this. I live in Virginia and have two children I have been paying support for. My question is.....Now that my eldest daughter is 18 and graduated, does the support get halved? I thought it did....of course the ex tells me it stays the same until I take her back to court.
Please help!!!!

You have to take it to court, and it will not get cut in half. In my state, you pay 30% of net income for 2 kids, and 25% for 1. In essense, it drops 20%. To add, you both will have a complete income assessment done at the same time. I've read it over and over where a reduction is sought, and it ends up increasing because income has gone up. Good luck.

It would depend on how your support order is worded . Some older orders do specify the reduction after one child is emancipated for orders for multiple children . Read your original order .
