I have been paying child support since day 1 and now he can not stand his mom. Yes, he is 17 and now wants to stay with me. I have no money for a lawyer and need help with stopping child support. What do I do? Terribly confused!

Go back to the court where the custody & support order were. Ask wehre you can find forms to fill out to change custody and support. File them NOW. The court might not get to it right away, but when they do, they'll go back to the day you filed (or actually, probably, the month after the day you file) when they finally get around to looking at your requests, but if you don't file them, it'll never get done & you'll still owe support until it's all official with the court.

The clerk of court should have a handle on where people representing themselves can find the forms for this, becasue it's quite common.

Aw MAN you've let another month pass. Get a lawyer, You cant' afford to continue to pay child support and not get any. The price of the lawyer will be paid for by the savings.... let's say you paid $500 a month (and now not only will you not owe that, but hse will owe YOU $500 a month) by allowing this to sit for a month, you are now $1000 in the hole. That $1000 would have been worth it to pay an attorney to get this done LAST month.

If you're having trouble finding what you need online and the court officer said you need a lawyer, it might be that you do need one. Some people can't negotiate the highly regulated court system on thier own (like others with their taxes, some people just NEED a tax guy, no matter how little money they make, they need someone to do the forms for them & make certain it's done right... not an insult, just saying your skills are better in other areas than in negotiating the legal things on your own). It soudns like YOU NEED a lawyer.

If only for the initial filing. DO NOT LET THIS WAIT.
