My mother in law is thinking about leaving a bad relationship. She is not legally married but have acted so for 20 years with 2 daughters. She does not work but the problem is she doesn't know if she has any rights for spousal support.
Both here daughters are over eighteen, they currently reside in China due to her "husband's" job. He works for a US company. Does she have any rights to spousal support from anyone's experience?

They started to live together in the Phillipines for about 5 years, then moved to Jacksoville, FL. for about 4 years. Then to Thailand for another 8 years. They are currently in China now...as you can see my father in law's job keep him traveling.
Both their children are in the US.

I forgot to mention that both in-laws have citizenships in the Philippines.

Messy situation , she would normally file for divorce( IF they were considered common law married ) where she is a citizen but divorce isn't allowed in the Philippines so there are no laws regarding alimony . Ya got me stumped .

There are very few states that would recognize a common-law marriage. Beyond that, I don't believe China recognizes or enforce any U.S. family court ruling. Even if an order could be procured, it could not be enforced.
