I have spent the last 9 years of my life trying to change an alcoholic and have finally realized that it is not happening.
We have 3 children (1 mine before marriage, 2 are ours). The house is in both of our names as it was purchased during the marriage.
I have spent most of our marriage as a stay at home mom. I am now working part time but my income is a small fraction of his. Our house payment is much cheaper than rent on most apartments.
Not only that, but I don't want to take my kids out of their home and force them to change schools.
Of course, he will not go voluntarily. I can't go. He is not physically abusive, though he can be verbally abusive at times.
