I filed this on the Indiana community board but I'm not sure I got the answer I need. I briefly recap what I asked there and my situation and then ask my question. I am a lifelong resident of Nebraska. My husband of 5 years (in January) got fired from his position there and had to move us to Indiana. Then, four weeks after an incredible struggle to synchronize everything, pull of an interstate movem, etc., BAM he tells me he wants a divorce. That was three weeks ago and I'm still in shock. Anyway, you can't file for divorce or even legal separation in Indiana until you've resided there for 6 months. I know you can't file for divorce and I can't find anything that suggests you can file for legal separation pending filing in Indiana. Reading Nebraska state laws it appears I wouldn't be able to file for a year after moving back (unless I'm still legally a resident?) but that I COULD file for a legal separation? Does anyone know about this? I've contacted my Nebraska lawyer but have not heard back. Please help!!!!!
