Hi All,

My ex is currently a contractor overseas making about $12,000 a month. He pays me child support of $2454 each month on our 2 children. I have residential custody, yet joint, custody. We were divorced two years ago in December.

He is returning to the US this November and will be a self employed contractor. He feels that his salary will be $70,000 yearly. I recently took a job making $10,000 yearly.

A couple of questions.

1. Are the online child support calculators generally correct?

2. In Missouri, I'm told that Child Support orders can only be changed every three years. Does Kansas have a similar law?

3. He received the house, I received the four year old vehicle in the divorce, but he has to pay the payment each month until it is paid off in a year or two. He wants me to pay the van payment when he comes back, even though he received the house. Would a judge even reopen this part of the divorce papers?

Thanks in advance for the help...

As for the child support calculators they are generally correct. Mine is exactly what the calculator brought it out to be. As for when the child support is adjusted. By what I have been told is that at any time you can get a re-evaluation done to determine if more or less child support is owed. CSE (child support enforcment) recommended to me getting a re-evaluation done every year. For the vehicle thing, i am not sure about that. I would assume if its in your divorce decree that he pays for the vehicle since he got the car that he would still have to pay for it.
