I filed for divorce, he was supposed to be served at his work last week. he knew it so he told everyone at work that if anyone asked for him to say he wasnt there. at this point the papers have been returned to my attorney and she says we have a choice, either a sheriff serves him when he returns to work on the 17th (he is now on "vacation" at home) or (this is what she prefers) i have a friend serve him. I dont know who i would have do it first of all, I have not been "allowed" to have friends so my friends are all through work or are friends of his. what should I do?? also, we had a hearing date for the 17th because there is also a motion for him to move out of the house, but I was told he had to have 2 weeks notice for that which obviously he avoided. any advice?

I think a motion for him to leave the house is a little harsh. I think Washington lawyers are bitches.
Ok now that I have that out Have the sherrif serve him. It will be a harsh reality, but if you want my advice don't listen to your greedy lawyer. You are in for a long drawn out fight that will exhaust you. If you husband is as you say he will not go down with a fight. He will lose after all this is Washington and they hate men here, but the more he hesitates the more the lawyers make and the less you make. You are in for some serious trama I don't think you have any idea. Your lawyer will pump you up with stuff that is over exagerated. You will be better to do some footwork (not on here but real law books) yourself.
Good luck but I think you are in for some real entertainment. You really have no idea. I would spend some time and read some posts here. That will give you a better idea of what you are up against.

My wife left me and I got cleaned out. I found it all to be unfair. I am glad it is over and will not go through it again.

Why does your lawyer prefer to have a friend do the serving?

I have to pay my stbx also, but my lawyer didn't think I had to. Like many states, Wa is a "no fault" state. Which means any f***er can leave and still get money! Nice isn't it... It makes you want to have left first! That would have been fun!

As much as that would have been fun. I don't think I would have ever left. Although if I would have learned about the infidelity during the marraige I would have been gone in a New York second.
Ya this no fault crap sucks. I also think infidelity should be illegal. I am kind of surprised as much as George W is into religion and family that he hasn't signed a bill.

Im not sure why, I think she just thought it would be easier on all if it didnt have to be a sherriff - but luckily, my stbx got a lawyer just in time and he accepted service of the papers so they went directly to him - much easier all around.
