Our first Mediation apt. on Friday...I am very nervous! I don't want this. We have been married for 3 1/2 years no children does it only take 1 appointment and then I am divorced. I need to to process...please someone tell me it takes a couple of months.
It's a pretty simple formula: if you are willing to negotiate eveything until there is nothing left to talk about, then the papers can be drawn, and signed by the judge. But, if you are in disagrement about things, and cannot agree, then it's off to court....which can take a year or more....it's a slow process.
If there are no children, what are you mediating about?
We agreed on everything, the mediator did some paperwork, but said he we had to file ourselves. 5 months later I am still waiting for the papers from the lawyers. I don’t know if we went to the wrong guy, but mediation was a waste of time and money for us.
