What's it all about, you,her money or the KIDS! Go buy the skates, I am sure the kids will appreciate you doing that.

Hi ATVILLAS - I agree it's about the kids, which is why I have bought them new swimsuits, new clothes, slippers, etc etc etc . However, at some point it becomes a matter of principal when support payments are meant to cover these types of expenses. Once in awhile I'm fine spending the extra money, but it is becoming a habit and I don't always have the extra $$$.
Thanks

Skates (or clothing) does not have to be new for kids to like them. Why not check the flea market, consignment shops, garage sales, etc. Even if she had bought them last year, they probably would not fit this year. You need to choose your battles carefully, this is probably not one of them.

I know it is frustrating sometimes and finacialy difficult. I can remember when I went through that stage paying heat and phone bills on top of extra clothes toys etc. In the long run it is worth the agro.

If the kids are skating when they are with YOU, buy the skates and keep them at your house.
She is not obligated to pay for ice skates with the child support. And you won't find a judge that will make her.

Hi MommaMia - that's interesting, I had thought that ice skates would be something my support should cover.
Regardless, my first impulse was to just buy the skates and keep them at my house, so that's probably what I'll do.
Thanks

If the kids skate when with the mother too I don't think I would deprive them of that. If they ask to take them with them let them.

Actually the support is supposed to cover their basic necessities (food, shelter, clothing). It can be argued whether ice skates fall under that category, though. I realize your frustration. If, however, the kids were walking around without any shoes at all and/or clothing that was in total disrepair that would be another matter.
