Inheritance

My friend's exwife's parents gave us a gift of $40,000 but there was never any money exchanged, it was a paper trail to avoid the tax. Now she is trying to say it was a gift to her and it was to both of them. This happened in 1991 and they have been married for 28 years. Can someone please let us know what can be done, or what he needs to do?

They both did. But she is trying to say it was her. The land deed and house deed is in both their names.
