Was wondering if anyone could help answer the question for me in that I'm getting ready to file but we were married in upstate New York. Can i file here or do I have to there where the licnece is issued?

How long have you lived there? Go to Google, and check out the residency requirements. It varies from state to state, but in most it is 6 months.

We have lived in Iowa for 6 years. I finally found out about eh 6 month deal, glad for the input and confirmation. It does help. Thanks

Are you both willing to get the divorce or does one contest it? If you both agree there are no residency requirements. You can get divorce wherever you like. Missouri has more lenient laws.
