I finally got the nerve to divorce my husband of 26 years. He has been sexually and emotionally abusive. He has cut me off financially, so I have no access to and money at this time. My lawyer would like more money and will not wait until this is over because so many people have not paid him. I have children involved and I am choosing to try and get this non contested so they will not have to know the ugly details. My family (mom, dad, siblings) have totally abandoned me because they can not see why I want to divorce such a wonderful man. He has a perfect image and has not ever really done anything in front of my children or people. If I get the money together, have him served, and he refuses to sign the papers, do I have to live this nihtmare for the rest of my life? Any help from you would be wonderful!

Hi,Im sorry to hear of your troubles.Go to your local court house and tell them you need a PAUPERS AFFIDAVIT.It means that you need a divorce but are unable to pay for it.They may,if you win your divorce, make HIM pay the court costs etc.Good Luck to you!
