Unlike child support, spousal support is often very difficult (if not impossible) to modify after the divorce is final, so getting it right the first time is a must!
MY HUSBAND WALKED OUT 4 YRS AGO. LEFT WITH THE HOUSE PAYMENT AND ALL THE BILLS. WE HAVE NO KIDS TOGETHER BEEN MARRIED FOR 9YR. WE TALKED DIVORCE AND HE FEELS THAT I'M NOT ENTITLE TO ANY SUPPORT. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THAT IS TRUE.WE BOTH WORK.HE MAKES ABOUT 4500 MONTHLY I MAKE ABOUT 2000 MONTHY. THE HOUSE NOTE IS 1650. PER MONTH WHICH HE DID AGREE TO PAY A 1,000 OF IT PER MONTH. WHEN THE HOME WAS PURCHASED.I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR 4 YRS. I HAD TO CASH IN MY LIFE INSURANCE POLICY TO TRY AND STAY A FLOAT. HE KNOW OF THE STRUGGLING SO HE CALLS EVRY NOW AND THEN A OFFER 100.00 HERE AND THERE.
If you've been managing for 4 years without his help, he is likely right. We need more information to be sure, but one of the determining factors of whether or not someone gets alimony/spousal maintenance is if they need it in order to live... and if you've been living for 4 years without it, you'll have a hard time proving that you need it.
You can't get much help based on that info! Do you both work? Who earns the most? Was there just cause for leaving? I know of a woman who's husband left, she now gets ove $4k a momth, the house was paid for and given to her and there were no children! Every situation is different!

It sounds like the expense of the house is what is causing you the financial hardship. Have the two of you discussed selling it? If you have no kids and are living alone maybe a downsize in housing would be a good idea.
