My STBX husband has been diagnosed w/severe depression with paranoia and delusional jealousy. My decision to divorce came after a year and a half of emotional/verbal abuse, and, towards the end, threats of physical harm to me. I had to have a Protection From Abuse Order on him after he threatened to punch my head in and break my legs.

It has been very difficult dealing w/him about the divorce issues due to his illness. We have a young son (who my STBX has told me several times is not his son) and a house w/both our names on it. No other joint assets or debts. He is always fighting me on anything I say concerning a settlement, saying that I'm taking everything away from him so I can be w/another guy (who doesn't exist). We have nothing to be taken away. The house has no equity and he can have our son whenever he wants. But his mind tells him otherwise. Has anyone else had experience divorcing someone w/diagnosed mental illness? How did you handle the illogical thinking?
