I have no idea whether I would be better off filing my own divorce papers or pay $1,000's to an attorney.
I was married for 4 1/2 years, and I hate to admit this, but I was stupid enough to be putting all my money into an account that was in his name only. I have no idea how much money was in that account when he left. He also has a savings account that I suspect he has been sliding money into. Recently I just caught him up on his own lie about our tax returns that he claimed we never got. It was direct deposited into his account months ago. I don't think we have a lot of money to squabble about, but then again, I don't really know....I do know that he is wanting to resolve this without attorneys, but he is a master manipulator and I'm quickly learning that I have been manipulated alot by him. He left with these bank accounts, left me with no money, but left me with all the bills. I'm just not sure what to do. I don't have money for an attorney.
I did my own papers online but I was the one that took care of everything and I didn't screw him. In your case I agree go to legal aid. Hes trying to pull one on you and you are entitled to half of the account. thats too bad but I'm a true beleiver in karma and if he is tyring to screw you he will get that back 10 fold. good luck!!
