My wife and I have worked out a settlement. We plan to meet with a mediator to help with the details. I am wondering if a mediator is liklely to be of help in letting us know as best they can how the law would determine what is fair, or is their job more about just mediating between spouses. I would rather not add the cost of a consulting attorney. Also I can pretty well outline here what we have decided if anyone would be willing to comment. The grey area for me is being compensated for the loss of the non monetary contributions of my wife. I know spousal support is to help prevent one from being abandoned and left with financial hardship. In my case I am being abandoned and will also turn over 2/3 of our equity as well as an arbitrary employment salary. However my life will still be harder having to be my own housewife.

thanks
ron

What if I present the cost of hiring a house wife? Like housecleaner, cook, grocery shopper. These things are more economic. As far as emotional support someone to believe in me etc, I guess that loss is mutual.
