married 8 yrs. two kids 17 & 13, he's the bread winner, myself worked my last job for 5 yrs. always housewife soccer mom, hes never gone down in pay, how would i ask the judge to grant me spousal maintenance. we have been together for 20 years

First, it based on a statutory calculation based on both parties incomes, length of marriage, not time together.

From there, you must petition the court to award you spousal maintenance. Have you filed for divorce? Are you already divorced?
