Last year I tried calling the guy that did my 1st divorce. He doesnt practice but is a master now. But he told me to see another atty and it's a woman. I met her and liked her and she is only 150/hr. I think her dad and bro are also the ones at the firm and she just handles family stuff, they do criminal.
I felt comfortable with her but I wonder is it silly for me to get a female atty since i'm a guy? I dont know how this stuff is done these days. lol.
so i was wondering where any of you guys represented by opposite sex attys? and how did you think they did?

I just posted a reply to this same thread of yours in the Spousal Support forum. I suggested a male attorney, but forgot to mention that he should, if possible, be SINGLE.
The reason for this should be obvious. Just as women normally take an interest in all the things their husbands are doing, so they take such interest in the present cases they are handling if the husband is a lawyer. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to see that there is a good possibility that she will attempt to express to him her opinon of "the outrageous behavior of his client toward his wife", and that, in the name of fairness, he should try to represent this client in a way "fair" (read weakly and poorly) to the client's wife!
Being a lawyer, he knows full well that he must avoid initiating any conflict with his own wife which may eventually escalate to the point that she may divorce him, get the kids, half of all his assets, alimony and his house. In such a situation, this married lawyer is in the same boat as his clients and all other men, and is a slave to his wife's whims! Of course, when a man loses his divorce under these circumstances, no one knows why. You will only hear it here!
BTW, a man is, for the same resons, better off with a SINGLE male judge, as well!

Uh, jbar, the lawyer isn't allowed to discuss the case with his wife. Your argument really isn't based on much of anything. It's possible, maybe, but unlikely.

I'm male and my attorney is not only female she is hot as well. I got personal satisfaction from my wifes reaction to my attorney the first time they saw each other, you could actually see the green eyed monster come out. It was also very satisfying the first court date when she ate the good-ol-boy attorney she had alive and asked for seconds.
male or female doesnt really matter I dont think just make sure they know what the hell they are doing, never trust an attorney they are paid liars. Always do your own research.
Of course my divorce is going down the crapper and costing a bloody fortune so maybe I shouldnt give advice on picking an attorney ;-)

Your atty is meeting with her atty for drinks and plotting ways of making $ off both of you. Laughing all the way to the bank!!!!

You are probably right. I'm getting screwed by everyone and not the first person has even had the good manners to buy me dinner first or even kiss me goodnight.

This happens much more often than is recognized. The lawyer or judge knows that if he doesn't take into consideration his wife's outraged criticism of the man in the case at hand, and plaints of sympathy for the woman, he may be facing divorce himself, with his wife getting the usual CP status, CS, his house, car, alimony, etc., etc. Granted one situation like this may not provoke such an outcome, but several--combined with any other problems--certainly could precipitate this!

Now, my man, you are starting to "get it"!
It sounds like this woman would have been better advised to have practiced the world's second oldest profession, instead of the worlds oldest!

I was and still represented by a female attorney. She was a raging 8itch when dealing with the other side. She told me, and she was 100% correct, that you eliminate trying to figure out the womens perspective, you have one in your corner. Damn good attorney as well. Best move I made.
