Wife and I separated for 26 months and after 4 continuances (wife's atty claims recurrent illness) in divorce, have binding arbitration in a month. After $130,000 fees and costs now I'm broke, she's broke, credit cards maxedm and my attorney needs retainer to continue. We hve witnesses to interview, depositions, five day arbitration expense, and wife declines to discuss private settlement over access to children or even discuss what she wants. Current parenting plan (interim) is I see kids (6, 12 yrs) every other weekend and every other Thursday. Her atty filed 4 motions in last 8 weeks to exclude me from parenting and decision making. I'm exhausted, broke, have alienated kids, but ready to fight to maintain access to kids. How can I get agreement before another $30,000 expense for arbitration? all friends and relatives tapped out, too. Wife's atty fined for past motions and owes me $2000. Help things look bleak right now. Still out of work from divorce distration and persistent motions to exclude me from kids. No criminal issues but wife turned me into professional board from drinking and now tough to get job.

Things look bleak for you. Sucks for the kids too. WA is the most assholish state when it comes to dads and kids but it is an advocate for visitation. What you have is the cookie cutter you won't lose your kids. but I would talk to the attorney general about your blood sucking lawyers. Do you see where all the money goes when the delay? Mom goes broke dad goes broke kids go broke both parents hate each other and the lawyers get rich. See the problem. I am sorry I don't have a game plan. I licked my wounds early, but I don't have shit for access to my kids so my plan sucked too, but I left with a hair on my ass. I wish I had better words for you.

The problem isn't the game; it is that nobody knows the rules.

Thanks Adrenaline. You have some great posts on this Board including the post addressing my concern. Clearly you are dealing with your loss by helping others get through theirs. The divorce is over soon so I'll have a resolution, though I won't like all or it or perhaps not any of it.
