I just recently got my child support order stopped because my daughter got married after she turned 18. However, by the time the courts got me in I had overpaid her dad 1140.00 in support. Now the court doesn't seem to want to order him to return it to me even though she wasn't living with her father. She had moved to Kansas with her husband who was in the military. Oh, and she was receiving money from the military from Jan to June when she was living with her father. Any suggestions on how I can get my money back from her father since she was married (emancipated) and living in Kansas. The magistrate we went before in feb. pretty much told me too bad.
Congratulations on completing your support obligation. There really is no mechanism for refunding support overages. I assume $1140 is a small sum in comparison to your overall obligation over the years.
